SMK, Singer~Professor of Voice~Writer

Susan Mohini Kane

Susan Mohini Kane, yep, that’s my name.

Welcome to my website! I am looking forward to meeting you. I am a singer, professor of voice and writer on the topic of singing. I live in California and love to meditate and sing but usually not at the same time.  I am classical soprano. I perform: opera roles like Baby Doe and Micaela, oratorio roles like Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio or Brahm’s Requiem, and cabaret/art song recitals. I’m a member of a really fun piano/soprano duo called Kristof & Kane.  You can find our CD of classical songs and arias called A Moment of Joy at amazon.com and on i-tunes.  I’m available for all your singing needs.  Like the plumbers: I show up on time, prepared, and smelling good.  I also teach private voice lessons, give workshops and lectures.  I host a blog called North Star Voice at northstarvoice.com, come on over for a visit!

Performing Artist

I am a performing artist.  A classical soprano has many choices these days, contrary to popular belief.  I am currently preparing a cabaret show comprised mostly of classical works.  Kristof and Kane will debut in August, stay tuned.  I’m also working on some amazing songs for soprano and guitar with a very talented guitarist named Gregg Nestor.  Stay tuned for our CD release.  Release is TBA.

Kristof & Kane

I’m available for symphony performances, opera roles, recitals, parties, church services, etc.  Please go to my profile at www.icadenza.com to see how to hire me! Or just email me at susan@susankane.info.

Writer on the Topic of Singing

I’ve been a teacher for many years, I thought it would be helpful to write down some of my thoughts in case they might be of help.  The first publication to look for is entitled:  Bridging the Gap Between the University and the Stage. I found that many of my students sort of fell away from singing a few years after graduation simply because they didn’t know the next step to take in their profession.  In my quest to give them answers, I started looking up the types of singing jobs and numbers of singers out there vying for those jobs.  The numbers tell quite a story.  Anyway, that is the upshot of Bridging the Gap.  I hope you’ll find it helpful.  Look for it at www.sensationalsinging.com.

Come on over to my consulting and video blog page:  Sensational Singing, Inc.(sensationalsinging.com) to get more information about my publications, e-books, lessons, etc.  Also, it will be a place to hang out with singers!  Sensational singers!

Voice Teacher & Consultant

I am also a voice teacher and consultant.  I teach private voice lessons but also master classes and workshops on how to find your Next Step in your singing career.  I’m currently open for one or two more private students and if you are interested, please email me at susan@susankane.info.

Do you need help finding the perfect college or grad school?  I have several years experience teaching at university and can give you a hand.  For consulting you can contact me at susan@susankane.info.

I’m currently planning a Bridging the Gap workshop to be given in Pasadena, CA, August 1-12, 2011.  If you are looking for your Next Step, this is the workshop for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
