In 2015 the president of Cal State LA, Dr. William Covino, initiated a new faculty fellows program. He called it Faculty Fellows for the Public Good. The point was to identify faculty who were doing engaged research – meaning research with community partners – to take six months to do a project that could be published or presented at a conference. I proposed to find out what a city like Los Angeles values in the arts. What kinds of projects and artists do they fund and why? I discovered where the funding was coming from and how it was earmarked to be used. I identified several places where an institution like Cal State LA could partner with the Department of Cultural Affairs at the City of Los Angeles. All my findings are in my summary outline and executive summary in the pdf linked below. Feel free to download it and continue the research! If you have any questions or ideas about it, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here’s the report!
